Trav and I recently got back from our TX to CO roadtrip so I thought I would recap our trip for y’all because we had so much fun! It definitely is possible to do, but I would recommend at least 6 days. I’m going to break down our itinerary below.
Tuesday : We left straight after work on Tuesday around 2, drove straight to Santa Fe, NM and spent the night there. This was about an 11 hour drive. At first we weren’t sure if we would make it all the way there that same day, but Trav decided he was fine with driving the entire way, so we booked a last Minute hotel on Priceline(we did the express deal). We ended up getting an amazing hotel called La Posada. We would definitely stay at this hotel again- it was beautiful! Read more about how we score really nice hotels for a great price in my blog post here.
Wednesday: We woke up early, grabbed some breakfast, and did the sun Mountain trail hike in Santa Fe, NM. It was beautiful! Definitely would rate this as a moderate difficulty trail-the end was a bit steep. We already had a hotel booked for this night (Hilton Santa Fe). We explored the little downtown and spent the night in NM.
Thursday: We woke up early AM and drove straight to Telluride (~7 hours). We explored downtown Telluride, grabbed some amazing food. We stayed in an Airbnb in the downtown Telluride area.
Friday: We woke up early and did Bear creek trail (~5 miles in &out). It was so beautiful- highly recommend. We stayed at the Airbnb again for Friday night.
Saturday: We grabbed some breakfast, made our way to Pagosa Springs (a little over 3 hours from Telluride) to check out the hot springs. We spent a few hours here, then headed straight to Lubbock to spend the night. We wanted to break up the drive a little bit so we wouldn’t have too far back to Austin on Sunday.
Sunday: We headed back to Austin from Lubbock (~6 hours).
